Egger private brewery wins three gold medals in the DLG beer test in 2021
- „Champions League for food"
- Egger Märzen, Egger Zisch and Egger Bock beer received awards
- Jury statement: "Highest art of brewing and highest enjoyment"
Golden rain for the Egger private brewery: Once again, several beers from Lower Austria are at the top of the podium in the traditional competition of the German Agricultural Society DLG. The classics Egger Märzen and Egger Bock beer as well as the contemporary, alcohol-free Egger Zisch convinced the strict jury and were "gilded". The two managing directors Frank van der Heijden and Martin Forster are naturally very proud of the award, as the high quality of the beer products was once again confirmed by a neutral jury of experts. “Only true masters of the craft are awarded the gold medal,” van der Heijden quotes the jury's verdict. The award offers consumers and trading partners an orientation basis in the large beer range. The "Gold Boys" from Egger in the 0.5l can are all available in local grocery stores - the Egger Bock, just as it should be, only in the respective seasons.
The beers largely bear the signature of Johannes Meister - the “first master brewer” at Egger. "I am delighted to receive this award again and confirm the excellent performance of my team," said the proud master brewer.
Quality test at the highest level
The focus of the DLG test is on criteria such as the flavor of the variety, foam stability and the purity of the beers. In contrast to other competitions, at least two different fillings of beer are precisely examined; this is the only way of making statements about the taste stability of the products. Thomas Burkhardt, Division Manager at the DLG Test Center for Food, emphasizes: “Products awarded by the DLG stand for the highest art of brewing and the highest level of enjoyment. All products were tested in neutral tests based on scientifically proven test methods of beer experts. DLG awards make tested quality transparent. "
Confirmation of the chosen path: high-quality, climate-neutral beer production
Egger sees the path taken as confirmed: "The triple gold shows that we are on the right track with our quality offensive and not only meet the tastes of Austrians but also international professionals," say the two managing directors Frank van der Heijden and Martin Forster satisfied.
Awards like those from DLG are objective proof of quality and are therefore of immense importance both on the home market and in export. It wasn't until the summer of the previous year that Egger's bestseller - Egger Märzen - was voted one of the best Märzen beers in the country by the renowned gourmet magazine Falstaff.* In addition to its taste, Egger beer scores with its climate-neutral production that is a decisive criterion for more and more consumers and trading partners.
* Egger Märzen achieved 92 points and ended up in second place with the same number of points as the winner
